This Privacy Policy explains how Badland Blades ("we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you browse this store, create an account, place an order, subscribe to email, or contact us. We sell handcrafted cutting tools, outdoor equipment, and collectible pieces, and we may review orders for age, destination, and fraud.
It should be read with our Terms of Service and Knife Purchase Liability & Legal Disclaimer. This policy is not legal advice.
Information we collect
- Account data — name, email, and optional phone when you create an account.
- Order and shipping data — items purchased, shipping address, phone, order status, and guest tracking details (email, order number, and status token).
- Payment data — Stripe processes card and wallet payments. We do not store full card numbers. After checkout we may keep limited descriptors such as payment brand and last four digits, Stripe identifiers, and refund amounts.
- Communications — messages you send the shop, custom-order requests, and newsletter sign-ups.
- Device and technical data — IP address, browser type, and standard server logs used to operate and secure the site.
- Cookies and local storage — a local cart, session flags (including your checkout acknowledgment), authentication cookies, and similar storage needed to keep you signed in and remember items you intend to buy. We may use basic analytics if enabled on the host.
We do not intentionally collect government ID numbers unless we later ask for them to verify age, identity, or legality of a specific order.
Why we use it
We use this information to:
- Fulfill, ship, tax, and support orders
- Process payments and refunds through Stripe
- Prevent fraud, abuse, and unlawful sales (including age and destination checks)
- Send transactional email (order confirmation, shipping, refunds, or cancellations)
- Send shop news only if you opted in
- Maintain accounts, the cart, and site security
- Meet tax, accounting, and legal record-keeping duties
We do not sell personal information.
Sharing
We share information with service providers who operate the store with us, and only as needed for that work:
- Stripe — payments, tax calculation, and refunds
- Shipping carriers — name, address, phone, and package contents as required to deliver
- Email provider (Resend or SMTP) — transactional mail and, if you opted in, the newsletter
- Hosting and data platforms (Vercel and Supabase) — application hosting, database, and authentication
- Legal and safety — when required by law, court order, or to refuse or report a transaction we reasonably believe is unlawful
We do not share your information for unrelated third-party advertising.
Age, identity, and legality
Because we sell knives and cutting tools, we may review an order for age, identity, shipping destination, or other legality concerns. We may refuse or cancel a sale and retain a record of that decision. Providing false information is a breach of our Terms.
Cookies and local storage
The cart is stored in your browser (local storage). Checkout acknowledgment is stored for the browser session. Auth uses cookies managed by our authentication provider. You can clear stored cart data in your browser; that will not delete order records we already have.
Retention
Order and payment records are kept as long as needed for fulfillment, warranties, tax, accounting, fraud prevention, and legal disputes. Account profiles remain until you ask us to close them, subject to records we must keep. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Server logs are kept for a limited operational period.
Security
We use HTTPS, access-controlled admin tools, and processors that handle card data under their own security programs (Stripe). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Please use a unique password for your account.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including California and the EEA/UK), you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, to object to or limit certain processing, or to appeal a denial. We will not discriminate against you for exercising those rights.
To make a request, contact us through the store contact channels listed on this website and describe what you need. We may need to verify that the request is from you. We may retain information we are required or permitted to keep (for example, paid order records).
You may unsubscribe from marketing email using the link in those messages. Transactional order mail is not marketing.
Children’s privacy
This store is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Knife and cutting-tool sales are limited to purchasers who are at least 18, or the higher legal age in their jurisdiction.
International visitors
The shop is operated from the United States and fulfills U.S. shipping addresses. If you visit from another country, your information is processed in the United States, where protections may differ from those in your home country.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. The version on this page is current. Material changes will appear here with an updated date.
